Q: My wife and I just had our pine hardwood floors sanded with 3 coats of polyurethane. The last coat was completed Friday. Sunday afternoon around 4PM I rolled a heavy server across it, 200 lbs. +-, and it appears to be dented from the 4 wheels.
What can I do? Can I try to buff it out with a car buffer?
A: Pine is very soft, as you know. The only 3 options you have are:
- Sand the grooves down to bare wood and start over.
- Place a damp cloth on the grooves and carefully heat it with an iron in hopes of causing the wood fibers to swell or pop out. May or may not work.
- Live with it.
