Dulled wood floor under carpets with non skid matting

Q: I had engineered wood floors put in back in June. I just noticed today that underneath the three 8×10 carpets I have (with that non skid stuff laid first) the floor looks totally different than where there is no carpet. Under the carpet is very dull.

The flooring I chose was not super shiny but a kind of sheen. That is totally gone under the carpets and the difference is quite obvious.

A: There are so many floor cleaners now which don’t leave any residue on the finish.  Wood floor retailers sell them.  Hardwood manufacturers and floor finish manufacturers make and sell them.  Try for example Poloplaz.  If the matting under the carpet has leached a residue onto the finish it should be able to remove it.
