Q: I used a water based Sportkote to recoat a floor that already had some bubbling in the finish from the previous scrub/recoat. It was dated 2015, but unopened, so I was told it should be fine.
The bubbles began almost immediately when pulling it with a t bar applicator.. did not shake it or anything like that. I read that there are defoaming agents that break down over time and since it was 3 yrs expired that is most likely the reason?
A: That is likely what has happened. Solvent or oil based finishes are more forgiving when more than a year old.
