Q: We have laid a burnt plywood floor down in our kitchen. We stained it and then applied a coat of poly and waited for it to dry, then applied a second coat. After that was dry we applied a third coat, but there are some places that just will not dry and has a sticky wrinkled affect to it.
What did we do wrong and how can we correct it?
A: Possibly a reaction with sap in the wood. Wipe it with mineral spirits and see if that will force it to dry. Wrinkling occurs when you apply another coat of polyurethane and the previous coat is not quite dry. I hope you are sanding between coats.
