Q imported from our old site, Face Lift Floors: When we painted before we moved in, we got some paint on the trim around the doors. Would you ask Craig if there is any way I can remove the paint off the door trim without removing the stain also?
A: The trim is oak and stained dark, correct? But, it has a coat of some sort of polyurethane or varnish, doesn’t it?
The paint was probably latex, so should come off with water and lots of elbow grease. If not, gently scrape it off as much as possible, and then try getting the remainder with water and possibly a nylon scrubber pad. At worst, you may have to touch up the finish on the trim. I doubt it would remove the stain.
