Q: I am having my floor refinished and the professionals are water popping the wood. I was told not to walk on the floor between the popping and stain process, but I accidentally did when I was asked by my contractor to get him something from a back bedroom.
I took care to walk on the floor softly and with socks and no shoes, however I got yelled at by the floor guys.
Did I ruin the floor? Can I fix it if I did? I am handy.
A: Sorry. The floor guys have to walk on the floor to apply the stain unless they have a hover craft. If you walked across with shoes and were dragging or scuffing your feet it could close the grain in those spots. You didn’t do that. No worries at all. The floor guy over reacted.
