Q: We are in the middle of installing hickory hardwood floors. I’ve been covering up what he has laid with towels and sheets to somewhat protect it, but we have found a stain of some sort upon picking up the towels. I suspect it is either dog urine, or a spot where a big wet dog laid down and some of it went through the towel onto the unfinished floor.
I’m afraid to do anything for fear of making it worse. Will sanding it take it out? Is there a product and technique I can use to remove it? Thank You.
A: Yes, sanding should be able to remove this. It is very likely just a surface stain.
Smelly milk stain on unfinished wood floor
Q: I believe my daughter spilled a cup of milk that seeped through her area rug and onto the unfinished wood floor in her room. It smells so bad and the stain on the floor is back. I've tried cleaning both rug and floor with no avail the smell keeps…

Dark grey floor stain
We are looking at purchasing an engineered hardwood floor for our kitchen - maple / graphite dark grey. I was told by a someone that dark grey stains don't wear as well as they don't penetrate as deep as other "lighter" stains. Is this true?
Refinishing a 4x4 floor
I am refinishing a 4x4 oak floor. I would like to know if I can use a vibrating sander instead of renting a floor sander.
Sanding an engineered floor
...If this happens to be an engineered wood floor, is there any problem with sanding and refinishing it? My understanding is that you can, but this type of floor can’t take this process as often as a solid wood floor. Is that true?
I recently sanded my white oak floors and used a Duraseal quick dry stain. After wiping the floor diligently and leaving it dry for 3 hrs., I returned to apply the first coat of waterborne finish. There was some bleeding of stain between boards which I wiped before applying finish.…
