Sticky film from rug

Q: I just moved. My new hardwood floor was left with a light sticky film from an area rug that the previous owner had. How can I remove the sticky residue?

It is not thick, it is just slightly sticky and when light shines on it it looks like a light whitish film is on the floor.

A: I would think a polyurethane cleaner would work, provided that is the type of finish on your floor, not oiled or waxed. Poloplaz has their version of such a cleaner as do Basic Coatings, Boa-Franc (mirage) and Bona Kemi. Poloplaz also has an even stronger cleaner called tie tac.
