Conflicting advice for tack cloth

Q: Conflicting advice for tack cloth: Do I wet the tack cloth or not after sanding? And if I wet it, what with? I’m using a waterborne. Some experts I’ve heard say use mineral spirits, some say use a fluid with the same base as finish (i.e. damp cloth), and some say none at all.

A: I generally wipe down the floor during inter-coat buffing (after vacuuming well) with a micro weave cloth. I leave it dry. You can however use a dampened or well rung out towel wrapped around a push broom to remove fine dust. Do this only when wiping down a floor that has already been coated. Don’t use it on bare wood which would raise the grain. Make sure it is dry before applying a coat of finish.
