Q: Can you tell me what is the best way to clean hardwood floors?
A: There are numerous cleaners on the market for polyurethane/varnished floors. Poloplaz makes one as does Basic Coatings, Mirage, Bona etc. Any floor retailer should have a suitable product.
Keep on top of the vacuuming to remove abrasive grit and use an approved cleaner (which doesn’t leave a residue) as needed.
Q imported from our old site, Face Lift Floors: I have a new hardwood floor in my home. What do I have to do to keep my floor in good condition? What temp should I keep the thermostat at to decrease damage to my floor? What kind of supplies do I need to clean my hardwood floor?
A: Vacuum the floors as often as needed to remove tracked in dirt, grime and abrasive grit.
Occasionally wipe the floor down with a polyurethane cleaner (assuming your floors have polyurethane as a finish).
Apply felt pads to the bottom of furniture legs. Keep pets nails trimmed and filed smooth, wipe up spills promptly, and have the temperature at living conditions..
