Q: I have just had an oak floor installed then sanded, stained and polyurethaned. The movers then dragged a sofa with rounded steel buttons on the legs across the floor which left long lines that look shiny. How can I get those lines out?
A: You can try a proper polyurethane cleaner, but I suspect they have put grooves in the floor. The only way to remove those is to sand the floor.
Related Q: I have hard wood floors in my house that had furniture dragged on them. They have lost that nice, new floor look. I don’t want to lay carpet down, so I was wondering about a cheap and easy way the make them look new again.
A: A buff and coat may help to give a fresh look but if there are grooves and scratches a simple buff and coat won’t hide those.
