Q: We recently purchased 1000 sq. ft of Brazilian teak 3.75 in wide, 3/4 in thick hardwood from J****** Premier. The boards were listed as being cut in random lengths. What we got was about 5 different lengths, ranging from 1 ft to the longest being 3 ft. We were expecting longer lengths.
Is what we got standard for hardwood?
A: That isn’t very good. All shorts! No, this wouldn’t be considered normal by any standard I know of. Even a lower grade such as #1 or 2 common will have plenty of shorts but still have some that are longer. I don’t know if this is species specific, but I can’t imagine why it would be.
