Should I not put down area rugs for 6 months – a year?

Q: I am purchasing a new home with hardwood floors throughout the first floor. I have heard that you should not put down area rugs for 6 months to a year, because the floor around the rug can fade and the floor underneath will be a different color.

Is this true?

A: Not true. You could wait 100 years and the result would still be the same.

A: I would give it 2-3 weeks to cure.
