Q: How do I remove tape adhesive from wood flooring without stripping the floor?
A: There are a couple of products I have noticed at Home Depot that say they will do this. Goo be gone or Goof off? Something like that. I would check the label first. If that won’t work, perhaps mineral spirits or alcohol?
Related Q: I just bought a home. Apparently someone stuck packaging sealing tape to the hardwood flooring near the front door. Probably the movers. How can I get it up without damaging the finish?
A: If you can’t just peel it off, I would scan products in the hardware store, paints and adhesives. Circa1850 has a product which I think is called super degooper. I would read the label and test it in an inconspicuous place.
Follow-up Q: Thanks so much! I do worry about the finish with those products Some have suggested vegetable oil. Others heating with a hair dryer on high. Thoughts on those?
