Q: After sanding my old wood floors should I stain or seal them first? And do they have to be sanded again after sealing? What are the steps to finishing old wood floors?
A: You should hire a professional to do this work before you damage and perhaps ruin your floors. I don’t say this to belittle you, but that you don’t have much of an idea about the basic procedure says much. I wouldn’t expect you to know because this is a job that a person has to apprentice for. You can’t learn this job in a day, a week or even many months. It takes constant, supervised practice over a period of time to become adequate. Please, save yourself some money and buckets of grief and hire someone you trust to do this work.
