Q: How long do I need to wait before putting the rugs back on a newly refinished (oil based) hardwood floor? The manufacture suggests 3 days before replacing the furniture, but what about the rugs?
A: 3 Days seems long to wait to replace furniture. I would suggest 2 weeks before putting area rugs back. Oil based finishes take 2-3 weeks to fully cure. That may sound ominous, but really, most of the cure is accomplished in the first 3 days to a week. By leaving area rugs off, you will not be impeding the final process. Not really a huge deal.
