Q: What’s the truth about swirl marks in wood floor?
A: Swirl marks have been the curse of the floor refinisher for years. Sometimes they occur. Sometimes they don’t. They are never what anyone would want to see. They won’t go away on their own. If you have the floor coated with a satin, rather than gloss, which is unforgiving, they won’t show. A number of issues can cause these marks, Fortunately, there are now maroon abrasive pads with fine abrasive strips which can be used together to abrade the finish before a fresh coat is applied. They are less aggressive, and less likely to leave such marks.
