Is it a good idea to install hardwood flooring in my kitchen? If so, how do you stop the weight of a refrigerator from denting the floor?

Chalky white, talc substance on old floor

After pulling up old carpet from an old floor, and cleaning some white residue that I think might be a little mold with clorox, the floor dries with a chalky white talc like substance on top. What do I do to remove it?

Floor blocking dishwasher

I need to pull up a couple of rows of laminate hardwood flooring in my kitchen as the ‘do-it-yourself-er’ who owned my home previously put in the flooring without allowing for the dishwasher to be removed. The dishwasher is now broken and it’s stuck. The tongue and groove flooring in 6′ by 2.5ft sections seems to be glued down. How do I go about pulling it up without damaging it so that I can put it back down? Is there anyway I can make the boards removable so that I can get the new dishwasher out if needed?

Movers left lines in floor

I have just had an oak floor installed then sanded, stained and polyurethaned. The movers then dragged a sofa with rounded steel buttons on the legs across the floor which left long lines that look shiny. How can I get those lines out?
