What is the best way to clean up saw dust after sanding a floor?
Is there a product available to remove ’surface scratches’ from oak/hardwood floors?
This area has the most traffic so I must have a varnish that will hold up to the wear and tear.
I have 3/4′ Solid Ebony, it is a very hard wood. I am stapling it down on a diagonal. I started in the middle of the room and glued three planks in one row (5′) down with construction adhesive PL. I also spline and stapled both sides.
Why is leaving a home unoccupied so detrimental to hardwood floors?
I installed hardwood flooring, sanded, put 2 coats of poly. After the third coat the floor has several spider-webbed type cracks in it, why?
I have brand new hardwood floors (we have been in our new house 3 months). There are areas of my floor where the polyurethane is flaking off. The contractor has blamed this on my 11 year old 60 lb. lab. I fully expected scratches but not flaking and peeling of poly.
I just noticed today that there are small cracks between the planks where the has now separated. Can this be repaired by reapplication? Will they have to redo the floor completely? The old coating sure didn’t show separation before so what’s up with it pulling apart now?
We had new unfinished Red Oak Common Hardwood installed by a flooring company that used a NOFMA certified flooring product. They applied three coats of Poloplaz urethane oil base finish. After about four weeks we noticed scratches where the Dining Room chairs are. We have protective felt pads under the legs. What would cause the hardwood floors to scratch so easily? Is the quality of the wood poor? I know they applied the three coats of poly.
I was wondering if there is a difference between buffing and sanding.
I’m looking at buying a used bostitch air nailer. Would it be better to buy one that shots staples or nails? Is there any advantage of one over the other?
What is a ball park figure for a hardwood repair man to replace one board?
I have hardwood floors with a crystal finish and I have a large dog. Now I have dog nail indentations on my floor.
I’m a contractor and just had 4′ walnut flooring installed in a clients home. a few months later, there are white lines in between the long edges of the floor boards in many areas.
