Dark stain line where the applicator first/last touched the floor

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I recently sanded my Red Oak floors and prepared them for staining. They looked amazing before the stain hit the deck. I applied DuraSeal Medium Brown with a Lambswool applicator, following the instructions from the container. I did about a 10 sq. ft., waited about 6 min., and tried to wipe off the excess. Every time I wiped (again with the lambswool applicator), I got a dark stain line where the applicator first/last touched the floor.

Fixing damaged, uneven and stained subfloor

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

I have removed my carpet. The subfloor (particle or pressed wood) has damage from pet stains. There are rises in the wood. I want to put laminate down. Will that be a problem? What can be done to correct the problem, so I can install the laminate?

Scratched new wood floor

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

I moved a heavy plant and scratched my newly done wood floor. There were gliders that were supposed to prevent scratching. They are fine scratches, but there are quite a few. They are just in a small area of the floor, but they are white scratches. My housekeeper tried to use the rough side of a scrounge pad to get them off, which also dulled the finish a bit. The floor guy left me some of the poly, but I am not sure what to do with it.
