We are stripping our red oak floors to save on sanding, but after we strip them should we lightly sand them or buff them? We are then just putting poly on. When all is said and done, how long do we need to wait before we can put furniture back?

We always knew that we had hardwood floor under our carpet, but we had no idea what shape they were in. So we pulled the carpet up to discover beautiful floors, but with paint stains. How do we remove the paint without dulling the floor? Or do we have to sand them and then restain? We are willing to leave the staple holes.

I have a new engineered wood floor. I cleaned it with floor cleaner. Now I have a dull look that I can’t seem to get rid of!

I have 2″ slat hardwood. Small gaps. I used 3 coats of B*** water based polyurethane 10 years ago. I would like to refinish the floor. I would like to use a thick high gloss like Marine varnish #13. Would the cracks and small gaps show again? If I put down enough coats, would the natural floor movement start the cracks between the slats again, or would it be a solid coat?
